MISSION AND MEMBERSHIP

OGC Mission Statement

Our Grandchildren’s Climate (www.ourgrandchildrensclimate.org) is an organisation of Seniors (not only grandparents) who are working to bring about change and to ensure that the world where future generations grow up will be safe, healthy and just. (27.02.26)

Our Aims

1. To grow awareness among seniors of the environment and climate emergency;

2. To engage with children and young people’s groups to help with understanding of the climate emergency, and offer support and ideas about adaptation, and to aim to lower anxiety;

3. To liaise with other groups with similar aims in the UK, and abroad - whilst remaining politically independent;

How

1. Campaigning: Using our position as elders to support peaceful protest, lobby politicians and business leaders at all levels, and people in our own generation,

writing articles, comments and letters to newspapers, and engaging on social media;

2. Working with parents, children, schools and other youth groups;

3. Engaging with other UK groups, and encouraging local groups to take action on climate friendly measures.

We are members of European Grandparents for Climate and The Climate Coalition.

Our Open meeting usually takes place online on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 - 6.30pm - a Zoom link will be published here or can be accessed by contacting us at info@ourgrandchildrensclimate.org
We also have three working groups: a Don't-forget-the-grandchildren Group, the Actions Group and the Pensions and Finance Group.

Our Pensions and Finance Group meets once a month, and currently focuses on submitting evidence to Parliamentary Committees and Commissions about the long-term issues (for our grandchildren) around climate change which are often overlooked in a world which is constantly demanding short-term fixes. We also have an upcoming meeting with Senior managers at Barclays Bank following a question from us at their recent AGM
