Standing together on climate change: It's what we do

Remember our action at Barclays Bank AGM? In-person AGMs could become yet another endangered species, if the Government goes for on-line AGMs. Our partners at Share Action are asking us to resist this move by writing to our MPs, demanding that large companies face proper public scrutiny in person. Details here. We're waiting to hear what the members of Barclays Sustainability Investor Relations team (who we visited recently), made of the National Emergency Briefing film which they said they would be attending. At the end of the recent conference of the European Grandparents for Climate in The Hague, the UK delegation (see right) paid an impromptu visit to the International Criminal Court in The Hague in order to ask what progress had been made in bringing powerful individuals, such as CEOs, to account for committing ecocide. After the Police had attended we were permitted to speak to Security and asked if they could pass on a message from us. This was refused, but we felt that our modest gesture fitted well with EGC's increasing concern about the ability of Big Finance to act in a climate-wrecking manner with impunity.

Many of us are involved, with others, in organizing screenings of the NEB (National Emergency Briefing) film in over 2 400 locationsacross the UK. Currently, the Government is still not agreeing to back the NEB demand for a public screening on mainstream media. Add your voice to ensure a full public screening.
